Orme and Hall - designer-makers working to create distinctive silver and mixed metal jewellery.

Sustainable jewellery that focuses on individuality, quality, reuse and recycling.

Individuality - everything is hand made in the UK by Sarah Orme and Damon Hall with minimal use of powered tools. The focus is on craft and the influence of raw materials in creating unique, striking pieces of jewellery.

Reuse and Recycling - damaged antiques form the base materials for design. Worn out copper coal scuttles, broken cigarette cases, holey mirror backs all fuel the process of giving new life to redundant items.

Quality - Reusing old silver does not result in any reduction in quality. On completion, silver pieces are sent to be assayed and hallmarked* following the tradition of British silver-smithing.

*Items under 7.7g in weight need not be hallmarked under UK Law. We send all items unless too delicate and likely to be damaged during the hallmarking process.

Taken together, these criteria reflect our desire to reject mass production in order to make individual items for individual people.

This site is a window into Orme and Hall's designs.

We are continually creating jewellery and selling at craft and eco fairs so this site contains only a sample of our work. Please contact us if you have seen something specific recently or would like to place a commission.

NEW FOR 2010:

We now have a blog, http://ormeandhall.blogspot.com/ where you can find out what we're up to with regards to making our pieces and booking fairs and events to sell them from.

We also have a shop on folksy.com (http://www.folksy.com/shops/OrmeandHall). It's still early days, and we have put only a few items for sale there. Items on folksy.com are different from those available here.

The small print for www.ormeandhall.com:

In order to give an idea of size, items have been measured and weighed. Please note, these are approximate due to the non-uniform nature of most of the pieces; diameters are measured at the narrowest point and weights were recorded using digital scales.

Items purchased through this site are sent within the UK by First Class, Recorded Delivery, at a cost of £2.49. Overseas buyers, customers for multiple items, and those requiring postal insurance, please contact us in advance of placing your order.
