Since 1994 we have lived on a boat and travelled the UK’s inland waterways. From the mountains of north Wales, through the Midlands to London, we have lived in city and countryside. We have experienced the differences in culture, food, language and architecture that exist on our small island. This continuing voyage influences how we work and the jewellery we make.
Our ever-changing garden and proximity to nature keeps us in tune with the varying seasons. Long summer days enable us to be more productive, whilst in winter we can be prone to hibernation. Whatever the weather we are outside and the range of environments we inhabit affects our work – being surrounded by skyscrapers can bring about monolithic pendants while rolling countryside might result in abstract rings.
In 2010 we finished fitting out a new boat with a purpose built workshop. No longer do we need to solder on the front deck or finish off pieces in the sitting room. We have a work bench with tools that wait to be used rather than being packed away at the end of each day. We hope you enjoy the product of our intermingling experiences and influences. info@ormeandhall.com 07971 223147 |
