Frequently Asked Questions Below are the answers to questions and comments we encounter most often. If your question is not addressed below, please 'Contact us', or email info@ormeandhall.com. 1.) I'm allergic to silver.
It doesn't help to say you're probably not, but here goes. Silver is an alloy of 925 parts silver and 75 something else. Today the 75 parts are often nickel and it is nickel that most people are allergic to. Being made from Georgian or Victorian silver, our pieces are more likely to contain 75 parts copper and therefore the skin is less likely to react. To avoid any allergic reaction buy silver that has been rhodium plated. One additional piece of uselss information, people allergic to nickel have to have a special hip replacement joint as the standard one contains nickel - don't wait until the last minute before you tell the health professionals. 2.) Do you combine postage/ ship abroad?
Yes we do. Please phone or email so we can work out an individual price for you. We're also happy to insure items, just get in touch before ordering. 3.) I saw you at an event recently and would like to buy something I saw but I can't find it on your website. Please call us or send us an email describing the piece. We have a small stock and are intimate with all our work so we will work out the piece you're after. We'll email you a photo just to make sure before you go ahead with the order. 4.) Why isn't there more stuff on your website? Each piece is made individually, has to be hallmarked and photographed. It takes a while for a piece to be ready to put online. 5.) Is silver ethical? I've heard about bad mining conditions.
There are some appalling conditions throughout the world for precious metal and stone miners. By recycling silver we use silver that has already been mined. It already exists so we are not signing up for the exploitation of workers or their families. All our stones and beads are recycled from damaged, old pieces of jewellery. We're holding an event.... would you like to come along? We are always looking for new and exciting venues to sell from. Please phone or email to see if we are available. 7.) Do you hold jewellery parties? Yes we do. We will come to you and donate 10% of our takings to a charity of your choice, or to the party organiser, as you wish. We are based in the South East of England but are willing to travel within reason. If you fancy a unique birthday party or fundraiser, then please get in touch. info@ormeandhall.com 07971 223147 |
